Drowning in books and Michael Jackson

As most of you know, I've been working feverishly to finish up Binding Secrets for its Halloween release and busting tail to make sure there aren't any loose ends. In the mean time, I've been gearing up for what I hope to be a great Halloween with the kiddos this year. The boyfriend and I have decided to dress up as Roman people and we're pretty into Halloween so hopefully we can give it a good go. I'll definitely post some pics of our family outing that we're planning so you all can see the craziness.

Speaking of Halloween and costumes, my five year old son is obsessed with Michael Jackson. When I say obsessed, I mean this kid lives and breaths MJ and constantly sings Thriller and Bad. Last night, he and his brother were singing Smooth Criminal so loud, it was ridiculous. Of course, I can't help but sing right along considering the songs are from when I was a kid. I remember singing with my sister on our karaoke machine and trying to mimic MJ's classic vocal "oh's" and "he-he's". It's equally as entertaining to watch my five year old bust out the moonwalk (or something close to it) and other classic moves. I can't help but laugh at his quirkiness.

On another note, my children are book reading machines. Between a school book fair, Scholastic books from the classroom and Books-A-Million, I've spent A LOT of money on books over the last few weeks. Not to mention a neighborhood boy gave them about ten other books. I'll need to find us a sturdy bookshelf! While my books are primary on my Nook or Kindle App, I did keep some of my favorites in print simply because I couldn't part with them. Some books just mean that much to me (yes, I know I'm a nerd!).

Well, I'll be heading to do some more work on Binding Secrets. I'm on a very tight schedule and need to get it done for you guys. Talk to you soon!!!

Rebekah Roberts- Guest Author!!

Rebekah Roberts
Author of Petals

Rebekah Roberts’ obsession with fairytales, romance, and Jesus came at an early age. She knew as a young teen that she wanted to write books for girls that were both fun to read and good for them.
While working as a nanny and volunteering in her church’s youth group, Rebekah continues her mission to write wholesome romances and uses fiction as a platform for The Unfolding Rose Ministries; where she helps to promote true beauty and self confidence in girls.
Rebekah was homeschooled through high school.  She continued her education at Moore Norman Technology, where she studied creative writing. She uses her education to instill a love of the craft in the next generation through teaching writing classes.
Growing up in small town Oklahoma, she loves the old south and history, which finds its way into her writing and everyday conversation with dreams of plantation houses, WWII dances, and Victorian trivia. She has a passion for taking an old story and making it new.
When she is not writing or working with youth, she loves to watch sci-fi movies with family or enjoy a pot of tea with good friends.

Guest post by Melynda Price- Her Journey!

I’ve been doing several interviews lately, and would like to take the time today to talk a little about my journey from unpublished to published author. Everyone has their own story to tell and I love hearing about other author’s success, but even more, I also want to hear about their failures. No, I’m not sadistic, lol, but I believe there’s a lot to be learned in these failures—my own and others.

Melynda Price- Guest Author!

Melynda Price
Author of Until Darkness Comes

An avid lover of paranormal romance, Melynda was inspired to write her own series after reading the Book of Enoch. She’s always had a fascination with stories about angels, and the role they’ve played in the history of our multi-dimensional world.

She attended Bethel University in Minnesota and graduated in 2003, holding AA, ASN and BSN degrees. She lives in Northern Minnesota where she has plenty of snow-filled days to curl up in front of the fireplace with her Chihuahua, and a hot cup of coffee, to write. She’s blessed with two amazing children, and a wonderful husband of seventeen years.

Guest post by Ann Swann- What Writer's Block?

What Writer's Block?

Someone posted a picture of a coffee cup on Facebook that said “Writer’s Block: When the imaginary friends in your head won’t talk to you.”  I started reading the comments other authors had written below the picture, and that gave me the idea for this blog post.

Ann Swann- Guest Author!

Ann Swann
Author of All For Love

Born in West Texas, Ann began writing stories to amuse herself when she was abducted by a pack of shape-shifters and taken to live in the wild desert.

Even after she escaped, she continued to write short stories and novels featuring weirdities and oddities.

Christina Ow- Guest Author!

Christina Ow
Author of Romance, Paranormal, Suspense, Contemporary

I love reading novels that take me on a ride of wild emotions. Books have always been an escape for me, for a few hours I love to live the lives of characters I grow to cherish and admire. I’ve always had an active imagination and because of it I’ve lived in my head more than I have been in the outside world. I’ve always imagined scenarios and wondered how it would turn out in the end, and what kind of emotions it would invoke. I began writing down the many stories in my head in 2010.

I have a Diploma in Law and I’m currently in my last year for my BA in International Studies. Writing was never a career path for me it was just a release as fashion design is my true passion, and now writing has become a vital part of me and my family as my twin sister is also a writer.

I hope to always continue with my love of writing no matter what the future holds for me.

MJ Kane- Guest Author!

MJ Kane
New Release- A Heart Not Easily Broken (September 20, 2012)

M.J. Kane stumbled into writing. An avid reader, this stay at home mom never lost the overactive imagination of an only child. As an adult she made up stories, though never shared them, to keep herself entertained. It wasn’t until surviving a traumatic medical incident in 2006 that she found a reason to let the characters inhabiting her imagination free. Upon the suggestion of her husband, she commandeered his laptop and allowed the characters to take life. It was that, or looking over her shoulder for men caring a purple strait jacket. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Carmen DeSousa- Guest Author!

Carmen DeSousa
Entangled Dreams- New Release in September 9, 2012

While Carmen DeSousa does not write "Christian" books, she does share her characters' Christian beliefs. Her characters are real people who come with real flaws; no perfect people allowed.

She characterizes her stories as modern-day fairytales, as they are overflowing with romance, mystery, suspense, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a fairytale be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of her novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will hopefully make you cry, laugh, love, and hope.

Both of her published novels, She Belongs to Me and Land of the Noonday Sun, have reached bestseller status right alongside Nicholas Sparks, J.D. Robb, and other great authors. Her third novel, Entangled Dreams, releases September 2012.

Blog Tour Dates

As promised, here is the list of the lovely authors I'll be hosting on my blog and the dates. Feel free to click their names and peruse their work. You'll get to know a bit more about them soon. Share the love!

Alright, so I lied

Each time I write a post, I always promise to post again soon. Obviously that doesn't happen and I can't figure out why it's so hard for me! It's true, I'm rather busy, but I am also not a very interesting person. I have regular every day problems and irritations (which I don't think any of you care about) and nothing really stands out. Really, the only interesting thing I do is write. But how do you write about writing?

That's where my problem lies. I strive for deadlines, marketing, editing, meetings and such and for some reason I don't feel like any of those things interest you guys. I mean, do you really want to know how many words I write a night? Or that one of my sons had a bad day in school? Or how about what type of paper I have to write for my current class? Lol...I didn't think so.

Needless to say, I'm pretty boring. Well, I guess I should say I'm boring to read about, but my life is pretty crazy. There's always something going on, on any given day, at any given time. That's just my life and how I'm used to living it.

So as a means of trying to bring you all something other than my nonsensical ramblings, I'll be hosting some authors on here as part of a blog tour. We'll be posting some information about them, their books and where to buy them. Feel free to comment and share. At the end of the tour, I'll have my own announcement and some awesome new stuff to show you guys.

Keep checking back! I'll be posting tour dates shortly...

Much love
~Lisa <3

This is crazy!

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine my book to be so well received! The promo weekend is starting off with a resounding bang and a tremendous amount of downloads. It's both fantastic and frightening! I don't have any illusions to fame or fortune, but I feel like I'm finally in the right place!

Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough for those who've downloaded my book this weekend. It may not seem like much, but to indie authors all over the globe, even one reader is a triumph! Granted, the first edition of Cursed Secrets did become a bestseller very early on, but I value anyone and everyone who reads my books no matter which platform.

If you haven't yet, you can download Cursed Secrets for free until 11:59 on 7/15. Make it a bogo with the novella, Fire & Ice, for only $.99. For more information about my books, you can find me on Facebook, Twitter and My Website.

Thanks so much and if you've got the time, don't forget to leave a review!

~Heat Wave~

The heat must be getting to me!

Life is just simply crazy right now. There's really no other way to explain it. I'm one of those people that is normally really laid back and comfortable in any environment, but lately I find myself restless and my anxiety is through the roof. Some personal issues have factored into this, but also I'm struggling to get back into the groove.

For about two months I was cracking out some good stuff, but lately my enthusiasm has been lacking. My characters are begging me to write their story almost as much as I'm begging them to finish it for me. I suppose, at some point, I'll have to hike into the wilderness and retrieve my muse from wherever she may be hiding. Maybe an upcoming vaca can cure it for me!

The little bit of news I do have is I'm definitely releasing the Cursed Secrets 2nd edition very, very soon. Fire & Ice will follow soon after. Once these are out and about, I will be (hopefully) finishing up Binding Secrets to publish by the end of the fall. Again, the timing for the sequel is tentative. I don't want to get myself into a bind with that, but I don't want to rush it either. You all, and the characters, deserve better than that. I refuse to rush perfection!

Unfortunately, I have no previews to post for you tonight. I know, I know, I'm lame! BUT...you can check out some samples on Scribd. I have some stuff up from Legacy of Secrets (LoS) and also a different story I was working on a few years ago. I don't know if it will end up going anywhere, but it's there for you to read anyway.

Thanks for tuning in to my ramblings! You know where to find me...

:-) Lisa
